I picked up and the person said it was O2 checking if I wanted a better deal and maybe a new phone. (I’m not eligible for an upgrade for more than a year yet.) They kept saying they had me listed as either self employed, sole trader, or employed. I said they’ve got the wrong number and didn’t give them any details, then they just hung up straight away.

Then i asked for their company name, they said it really quick, but when i asked them to spell it out slowly and repeat, they just ended the call. TOTAL SCAM! FAKE CALLER! Blocking is pointless cos these jokers just keep ringing from loads of different fake untraceable UK numbers. If you want this to stop, get in touch with your MP. Tell them what's going on and ask what they're doing in Parliament to push the phone companies to use tech that blocks these fake numbers coming from abroad. The tech exists, they just ain’t using it. You can find out how to contact your MP on the UK Parliament site. You'll get an eye-opening reply for sure. These scams rake in billions without paying taxes and it’s gotta end.

A couple of posts below explain what you need to do if you want to put a stop to these foreign scammers ripping off vulnerable folks and bugging the rest of us. It needs a bit of effort, but I've been doing it - reporting scam calls and texts straight to the police database (I've got the link bookmarked). Sadly, it’s gonna take thousands of people doing this for any change to actually happen, but every day loads of people report scam calls on this site. You won’t see results straightaway if you do this, but if nobody bothers, these scam calls will just carry on forever.

SCAM ALERT! Make sure you report every scam call or message straight to the police fraud database. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head to the ‘police.uk’ website. Find the ‘report phishing attempt’ section and carefully read all the info. Then provide the details of the scam, including any links or URLs you got. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you've actually lost money. The only way the police can track down and stop these scammers is if everyone reports all these dodgy calls and texts.
