I reckon they’re linked to Vodafone somehow, even though they say they’re Vodafone itself. They ring up pretending it’s about “checking if you’re on the best plan” but that’s rubbish since I’m on a fixed contract. What they really want is to push broadband, Vodafone TV and stuff on me.

Sounds like the calls are coming from a Vodafone call centre in Sedgefield, Durham now, so it should be alright to answer.

Somebody rang me sayin my husband had been in a car crash. I got really worried and started freakin out, then the caller could tell and just hung up on me. This is proper dangerous stuff, they really ought to be shut down.

Proper fed up with all these calls! The moment they start chatting, I cut in with "I’ve never been in an accident, no PPI claim here and I don’t want any double glazing" and then I hang up straight away!!

The 01740 dialling code belongs to Sedgefield, a small place near Stockton on Tees, but these callers aren’t even from there, so I’m not sure how they’re using that number! I’ve received loads of calls from this and similar numbers. Each time I’ve told them I’m on the telephone preference service and asked them to stop contacting me, yet they keep ringing about some fake accident I supposedly had!

Today I received a call from 01740 465409, which supposedly shows as Stockton-on-Tees. As someone from the Tees area, I’m pretty sure that code isn’t right for Stockton-on-Tees. This number, plus a few others, have now gone straight onto my blocked list.

This number called me twice today, once on my landline and again on my mobile, about some car crash. I told the woman, who had a really thick Liverpool accent, that she had dialled the wrong number, so fingers crossed they stop now. The number shows as 01740 but its definitely fake. My iPhone says it's actually coming from Stockton-on-Tees, which isn’t the 01740 code. I live in an area with the 01740 code and no number around here starts with 01740 4. Totally a scam!

When I try calling the last number it shows up as the National Hearing Clinic but when I ring them back, they say no ones available to take my call! Can I block them? It’s my mum’s phone, she’s 91 and really ill in bed with the flu, the last thing she needs is any disturbances.

I've been receiving an incessant number of calls from this particular number. They seem quite keen on ringing, but never bother to leave a message when I’m out. It's infuriating that they continue to call repeatedly, with mere moments between each attempt. On the odd occasion that I did pick up, they start droning on about whether any of my relatives have been in a loud workplace. Honestly, it’s like they’re adding to the noise pollution with their relentless persistence!

Got a call from this number today, some bloke pretending to be from Microsoft. He told me to change stuff on my computer and give him the info, then at the end asked for money to "repair" it. Said my Microsoft licence was corrupted and I’d need to pay for a new one! He tried to charge me £175 for his “service”. Complete muppet. I’ve changed all my passwords just in case and have reported it to the police.

Got a call earlier from someone asking for a Barbara. I told him he must have the wrong number, and just as I was about to end the call, he went on with "this is relevant for you as well, have you ever worked in that line of work?" I asked how he could tell it applied to me if he was after Barbara. He just kept asking the same question again. I said to take me off their call list since I wasn’t interested in whatever they’re pushing, but he cut me off before I could finish. Definitely feels like some kind of scam.

I receive calls from this number almost every day-occasionally up to three times! I finally picked up today and a lady asked me if I'd ever been employed in a loud workplace. I told her no and requested to be removed from their contact list, as I'm utterly fed up with their persistent calls. But lo and behold, just after that, I got hit with another two calls in quick succession!

Got a call earlier today from a woman with a heavy Hartlepool accent, sounded proper thick. She kept asking if I'd ever done any work in industry but I could barely make out what she was saying. Got frustrated and just ended the call. I've blocked the number now so they can’t bother me anymore. I had a similar call a few days back from an 01740 number, likely the same lot, said they were from the hearing centre. Don't these callers get that most people aren’t falling for this stuff anymore? They should just give up.
