This week, I got a couple of calls warning me that my Amazon Prime subscription payment was about to be charged. I didn’t really pay attention and just ended the call straight away. Because I’d only just tried out Prime for a trial, I had a quick look at my Amazon account and saw there wasn’t any payment pending. That’s what made me realise it was a total scam.

Got a call from an automated woman’s voice with an American accent warning me that £39.99 would be taken from my Amazon Prime account if I didn’t hit 1. Then out of nowhere, a guy with an Asian accent asked how I was doing. Seems like these scams let you listen for about half a minute free. If you do press 1, they probably connect you to some fake call centre and you end up with a pricey phone bill. Really annoying and just plain nasty.
