I keep a whistle close to the phone, and as soon as someone picks up, I blow it loud enough to block out their voice. They never stop calling, but at least it gives me some satisfaction. Honestly, why should we have to put up with this? It’s proper upsetting and should really count as an offence. Didn’t pick up the phone when this number showed again today, but I wasn’t shocked to see it on my caller ID.

This month I’ve had the exact same call come through 6 times, and I always jot it down to keep track. Hoping they really got the message this time!

Got a call from a bloke who said he wasn’t trying to sell me anything and that it wasn’t a sales call. Turns out, it was a dodgy way to get me to agree to an energy survey, which obviously led to a sales pitch. Hung up on him straight away.

Every time they ring me - I reckon it’s been at least four or five times now - I tell them to take me off their mailing list. They claim to be GDPR compliant, but somehow they can’t seem to do that. Then they tell me to visit their website to sort it out. Problem is, there’s nowhere on the site that actually lets me stop the calls. How is that honest? They’re basically hassling me and making me jump through hoops to end these unwanted calls, yet they do their best to hide the option that would let me stop it. I’m beyond annoyed, saying I’m mad is an understatement.

Got a call from someone claiming they were around checking energy efficiency in the area. I told them I’d already had it done (which wasn't true), but she just went on with her script. Got a call from someone wanting to do a survey. My tip? Drag it out as much as you can. Say you need to find the homeowner first... “he’s just coming back” … “won’t be long” … “almost here” and so on. If you’re lucky, you might get known as someone who wastes their time. Don’t expect much change, but it’s something to try at least.

So a company called “Energy Savers” called me out of the blue. I mentioned the UK’s GDPR rules to them, and they claimed they stick to them completely. Then I asked why they’d ring me up without my consent, and the person said they weren’t actually selling anything. When I asked what that had to do with it, she just ended the call on me. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from someone saying they were offering a free "loft temperature inspection" because apparently, these inspections will be compulsory next year. They said they're doing them free now though. They sent me a website to have a look, but it ended up being a site for an infertility charity. Seemed a bit dodgy cause they wanted loads of personal info from me.
