Got a call from a guy with an Indian/Asian accent saying he was “Mark Watson from BT Openreach” - sounded like he was just going through lines from a script. I asked where in the UK he was calling from and he weirdly just said “BT” which didn’t really make sense. This scam’s been doing the rounds too often now. I told him I was with the regional police fraud hotline (definitely not true) and he cut off straight away. Go figure!

Even after I blocked this number, it keeps calling non-stop. They don’t bother leaving any voicemail either, just have the line open for like 5 minutes. When you pick up, it's just static, no actual voice at all.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be with BT Openreach about my slow internet. I handed her over to her boss who was seriously pushy. After I hung up, I got calls from a Malaysian number more than ten times! They kept pestering me to open Google Chrome and kept asking about some keyboard key next to the Alt key. Such a rubbish scam attempt, I’ve blocked them now.

On 12th September 2019 around 11:20 in the morning, this number 01733 240 590 rang me from Peterborough. I didn’t pick up and after a few rings it went straight to voicemail. Nobody ended up leaving a message. That’s all there is to it.

This is the second time I’ve been called by them, and it’s clearly a scam. They pretend to be from BT, saying they want to fix my connection, but really they’re just trying to get access to my computer. Don’t fall for it!

Totally a scam, best to just ignore and block the number straight away.

Openreach keep saying there's a problem with the phone line, but honestly it sounds perfectly clear from my end. Don't really get why they insist it's faulty.

i got a call from a woman with an indian accent claiming she was from the bt tech team, saying my internet was slow. then she handed me over to someone who said he was her manager, who told me to open google chrome and search ‘check my internet speed’ and click the first link. needless to say, i played along a bit then told him it was a load of rubbish and i wasn’t falling for it. he said something rude or maybe a threat, but his accent was so thick i had no clue, then hung up quickly. pretty clear he wanted to mess with my computer.
