This person called saying they were from BT and that my internet was having issues. Thing is, BT isn’t even who I use for my internet. She wouldn’t accept that and kept insisting I should listen to her, but I just wasn’t having it.

Got a call from 01732 642514, some bloke with a heavy accent from the subcontinent, the line was crackling like mad - proper dodgy VoIP thing. He was saying he was from Amazon or something - but yeah, so suspicious. I only use a landline coz my elderly family relies on it. Seriously, when will Ofcom start sorting this mess out? They’re pretty useless so far.

Received a call from 01732642514 - a chap with an Indian accent insisting he was from British Telecom, informing me that my internet connection was having issues on their end. I fired off a few queries like, “Which server are you on about?” but he couldn't give me a coherent answer. When I pressed for his number, he rattled off 011441793596931, which didn’t quite add up. The number he was calling from isn't even connected to the internet anymore! I decided to string him along as much as I could. It reeked of a dodgy ploy to gain access to my computer.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Sky tech support, saying they were looking into my internet problems. They then tried to get me to let them control my computer remotely, probably to steal banking info or something. Definitely just another scam!

Got a call today from a local number, so I picked up thinking it might be my kids' school ringing. It was a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from IT Communications about my internet. Didn't buy it, ended the call straight away and have blocked the number since. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from Virgin. He said there were some problems with my internet and told me to look at the back of my router to count the lights. When I asked him to prove he was legit, he got really pushy and quite rude. Ended up just hanging up on him. Looks like yet another scam attempt.

Truecaller stopped a call, this was the second one that came right after the first. Looks like classic annoying pests you’d expect, proper low-life types. Better to stay safe and assume the worst unless proven otherwise.
