The only reason I picked up this call was because it came from a number that looked familiar with my local area code. On the line was a chap with a pronounced Asian accent, insisting he wished to chat about my broadband services. When I inquired where he was calling from, he dodged the question and stated that BT had given him permission to use the local code. Feeling quite suspicious, I told him I was in the midst of cooking, and just like that, he abruptly ended the call.
