I asked her which company she was calling from, but she just said it was about the order. I told her I buy from various places and asked her to specify which company’s order she meant. Then, she just hung up on me. Feels dodgy, probably a scam.

Don’t jump to thinking it’s a scam - just ask for your number to be taken off our list if you prefer. And if you’re up for the survey, it’s always really brief.

I work part-time at ESA, and honestly, they’re not sketchy at all. If you don’t want to get calls from them, just be upfront and say you don’t want any more calls - they’ll stop. I’m interested in Market Research myself and that’s why I do this job, but if someone doesn’t wanna take part, I’m not bothered. I just want to complete my work and get paid. We get trained to phrase things carefully. Like if you say you’re busy, I have to ask, “when can I call back?” instead of, “can we call you back?” because the latter could easily be a no. Anyway, I totally get wanting to hang up, but you need to say it clearly so I know. Otherwise, I might lose points for thinking you could be interested. Just be honest and say you don’t want to take part or get calls - simple as that. Why’s it so hard?

Got a call supposedly from Mecca Bingo, and they actually knew my wife's name. They started firing off loads of questions and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
