I asked her which company she was calling from, but she just said it was about the order. I told her I buy from various places and asked her to specify which company’s order she meant. Then, she just hung up on me. Feels dodgy, probably a scam.

Nowadays, any unsolicited call raises eyebrows, especially when it comes to older folks. It's high time we put an end to this practice. Absolutely not "dodgy". There’s really no reason to blacklist this number; I happen to be part of ESA myself. If you receive a call inviting you to join in a brief survey, just let us know how you'd like to move forward. Don't jump to conclusions about it being a scam. Simply request that we delete your number and we'll take care of it. If you choose to participate in the survey, it typically only requires a short amount of your time.

I’m employed by ESA, and I assure you, they’re as above board as you can get! I’m only part-timing it, mind you. If you’re not keen on their calls, just let them know to cease contact, and they will. I have an interest in Market Research, but at the end of the day, I'm just here to do my job and earn a bit of dosh. Our training is quite specific; if you mention you’re busy, we’re instructed to inquire, “When would be a suitable time to call you back?” Asking “Can we ring you back?” leaves the door wide open for a polite ‘no’, which we’re not allowed. Essentially, even if you’re itching to hang up, you need to inform me directly for that to happen. Otherwise, we might lose marks for presuming you’re disinterested. It would be much simpler if you could just be upfront and say, “I’m not interested, please don’t call me anymore.” What’s the hold-up with that?
