The caller pretended she was reaching out on behalf of my insurance provider, trying to extract personal details from me. She claimed to have received £3000 for slight discomfort following an accident and repeatedly used my first name, which set off alarm bells for a dodgy ambulance-chasing scheme. I’m signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, so they oughtn’t to be getting in touch. Moreover, my insurance company assured me that they had no involvement in this call and advised me not to share any information.
