Got a call today from a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT. She said I could get 25% off my BT bill if I confirmed some info like my name and address. Then she asked which bank I use for my BT Direct Debit. Seemed fishy but I shared the bank name since I thought it was harmless. Next, she wanted the 16-digit number from my bank card, saying they needed it to apply the discount - complete nonsense! I told her straight up it was rubbish. She kept pushing, but I challenged her to prove she was really from BT. That shut her down quickly because she couldn't even tell me my BT account number. If you get calls like this asking for bank details, just ignore them. I've reported this number to BT already.
