Definitely a total rip-off, so I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

A caller said they were from BT but couldn’t really explain what the issue was. It felt like an Indian call centre reading from a basic script. They kept throwing out info that made no sense and seemed like it was just grabbed from some Google search. When they asked me to get in front of my laptop without saying why, alarm bells started ringing. Sounds like a typical scam to hijack your computer and maybe demand money later!

The person on the line had a strong accent and tried to get me to confirm a guess of my name. When I didn’t reply, they just said “have a nice day” and then ended the call.
