I'm signed up with TPS and my number's ex directory. Some daft lady rang me, Indian I think! I just let her carry on while I was cooking and in the end, she gave up and hung up!!

This used to be my landline number not too long ago, but I had to switch it after folks started ringing me back thinking I’d called them. The number’s been cancelled now, but it seems some absolute idiot has cloned it and is still using it. It all kicked off with the same kind of call you lot have probably got, and from what I hear, my phone company is looking into it.

Said they were from the National Accident Helpline, mentioning some so-called "recent accident" that never happened. Like many, I'm ex directory and signed up to the TPS, but still get loads of these annoying spam/scam calls. Really fed up with it now.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent calling herself Jessica. She told me I’d been in an accident last year. I asked her to give me details about when and where it supposedly happened. Instead of answering properly, she just rambled and then ended the call. Definitely seemed like a scam to me.

This number rang me again today but nobody said a word. The first time I just hung up, and the second time I kept the call open without saying anything. Someone else mentioned the call came from Sc###horpe. The caller had a really strong Indian accent, barely understandable, asking about the car crash. I warned him about the Telephone Preference Service and said his firm could get fined if they tried again. Then I told him he was calling from a string of numbers linked to Sc###horpe.

21/11/2017 - Received a rather bothersome call from the number 01724488716. There was a weak line, and an Indian-sounding chap greeted me with a cheery 'Good Morning, how are you?' Having endured a similar nuisance the day prior from the landline 020236 344912, where I was bombarded twice regarding supposed accidents, I opted for a rather loud response: 'P*** OFF!' It appears he was a bit baffled by my outburst, so I reiterated with 'Ambulance chaser, P*** OFF!' He attempted to engage again, but I firmly shouted, 'CLEAR OFF!' This clearly got through to him, as he promptly hung up. Honestly, it would do wonders if these callers could familiarise themselves with some good British expressions. A simple lesson in the phrase 'clear off' might save everyone a lot of hassle.

A bloke with an Indian accent said he was from some National Accident helpline. He claimed I’d been in an accident in the past two years and somehow my phone was connected to it. When I asked for more details, he just ended the call.

I received a call earlier today, the 20th of November, from someone purporting to be with MIV, referencing a car accident that “you lot had recently.” I merely responded with a dubious “Oh, really?” and they promptly disconnected. scam alert!!! some bloke rang me earlier and was talking rubbish. i told him to explain this supposed accident claim properly, and he goes, ‘i’m not a VIP, so i can’t meet you’. hahaha. then he told me ‘stop calling me’. i was like, ‘no, we’ll call you, we’re from an investigation firm.’ seriously! unbelievable!

Got a call from someone claiming there was a car crash involving me - pretty obvious phishing or some kind of scam. Couldn’t figure out exactly what they were after as they kept things very vague. Felt like they had dodgy intentions and might be dangerous, using lies and fake stories. At first a woman called, but when I acted a bit naive, she handed the phone to a bloke who then gave me a bogus phone number that didn’t match what showed up on my screen. I’ve had several calls like this recently - I wonder if these scammers are using some shared list of numbers?

She kept saying it was some legal thing to get info about my 'accident'. When I asked more, she said she was from Iv, but never gave her name or her firm's. Stuff didn’t add up - felt like she was trying to fish for info. Wouldn’t accept a simple no. Folks who lie or hide stuff like that can’t be trusted - really sketchy.

Got a call that felt like a scam, they claimed I had some accident within the past couple years but couldn’t say exactly when or who my insurance was with, or even confirm it was a car crash. Kept pushing me to answer but wouldn’t let me ask anything back, kept talking over me the whole time. Had a strong accent that was tricky to get, might’ve been some call centre stuck in a cubicle somewhere.

weird thing is, it seems like every phone extension here in the office answers to someone claiming they've been in a car crash... had four calls back to back, all dropped as soon as i replied.

this bloke with a thick accent calling himself john, said he was from manchester, but the number was from scunthorpe. he kept telling me “ma’am you’ve been in a car accident.” i asked how he knew about it, he just said he was checking if i had, and had no clue what my name was. i told him to get lost and that i’d report him to the info commissioners office. he didn’t get a single word and just kept asking if i’d been in a crash.
