Got a call from a number that’s based in my home area. The woman claimed she was checking on an unpaid British Gas bill. I told her I haven't been with them for ages. When I asked what the issue was, she wanted me to confirm my address. So I said, “Fine, tell me my address first, then I’ll confirm.” She said she couldn’t reveal that info unless I verified it. I told her I don’t just hand out my address over the phone, and if she really had it, she could send me a letter instead of ringing me up!

Sounds like LBS debt collectors to me. They probably just buy up debts and then bother people nonstop to get in contact, pushing them to sort it out - even if the debt isn't actually legit. Best thing is to just not respond.
