Got a call from someone pretending to be from the Ministry of Justice, using a ridiculously bad English name. They said I was owed a refund, but it smelled like a scam straight away. If you’re able to, I strongly advise against picking up calls from this number. It seems to originate from India, and those behind it are undoubtedly up to no good. They often claim to represent companies like BT or CPS, or may even tell you that you’re due a refund because of bank errors. It’s quite alarming how they’ll request your credit card information with the intention of robbing you blind. Do what you can to block them!

I've only recently set up my phone, and lo and behold, it rang from 01723682238! My elderly mum and dad were told they’d get a cheque for a big sum they’d apparently overpaid on their mortgage. The caller said he could send the cheque immediately but needed their bank details first, and he wasn’t having any refusal. It was a man speaking with an Asian accent.
