I’ve been receiving numerous unsolicited calls about some supposed government initiative, and honestly, it reeks of a scam. It's crucial we report these types of calls to WHICH, as that’s our best shot at putting a stop to their nonsense and possibly hitting them with fines. Got a call from someone pretending to be from the Ministry of Justice, using a ridiculously bad English name. They said I was owed a refund, but it smelled like a scam straight away. I ended the call before they even asked for my birthday or bank info. The line was scratchy with delays, so I’m sure they were overseas, even though the number showed a Scarborough area code. Earlier today I got a call from someone speaking with an Asian accent, saying they were from the Ministry of Justice and calling about a cheque for bank fees. They even knew my name and address! The caller said they were David. I didn’t let them carry on and just hung up. Now I’ve blocked the number - the BT phone I use makes blocking super easy, so I’d definitely suggest using one too!

Someone named Charles Taylor rang me saying he was with the UK Claims Advisory Group, part of the Ministry of Justice, supposedly from 223 Regents Street W1B 2QD. He said I had some money owed to me because I’d overpaid on certain bank accounts.

I'd strongly advise against picking up calls from this number and try to have it blocked if possible. The folks behind these calls seem to be from India and are definitely scammers. They'll claim to be from BT, CPS, or even say you’ve got some sort of refund due to overcharging in your bank. Their aim is to get your credit card info and then rip you off. Stay alert!
