Got a robo call saying BT was trying to reach me and if I didn’t act fast, my phone and internet would be cut off. Pretty sure it was just an automated scam though.

I got a recorded message saying a huge sum, like tens of thousands of pounds, was about to be transferred to someone in South Africa from my bank. The message said if I was okay with it, I should press 1 or just hang up. Obviously, it was a total con, so I just hung up. Then I called 1471 to check the number and it showed 01723 512730, which I found out is from Scarborough. It really got me thinking about what might happen if an elderly or sick person got this call, especially since they were told to hang up to approve the transfer - that could be seriously dangerous!
