Got a call from someone claiming to be a magazine, and they wanted the first two digits of my school's number or something. Quite strange if you ask me.

I received an inquiry today regarding a magazine subscription, and it quickly turned suspicious. The caller started off by probing me for personal details, wanting to confirm my address, and then bizarrely requested the initials of my school. It definitely feels like a scam, scam, scam! Keep your wits about you, folks.

A few days ago, I got a call from a plumbing and heating magazine. Since I'm an engineer, it didn’t immediately raise any alarms, even though I’d never heard from them before. I went along with confirming some info about my job, but when the lady asked me to verify the first two letters of the school I attended, that felt dodgy, so I said no. Then, about fifteen minutes later, I got a call on my mobile from a prerecorded message telling me I owed money to HMRC and that if I didn’t reply right away, there would be consequences. Definitely a scam in my book.

Every time I pick up the answer phone, the call just ends, and they never leave any message. It's quite odd.

I was peddling magazines at my workplace, but the company had the cheek to probe me with a multitude of personal queries!
