Hey there, If the debt is older than 6 years, they legally can’t come after you for it anymore! The company should have known about what you owed way before those 6 years passed and got in touch to sort out some payment plan if you couldn't pay it all at once. So yeah, don’t hand over a single penny!

Got a call from someone called Conway saying I owe money from 2012. Honestly, I can’t remember any of that, and if it’s legit, why have they waited all these six years to get in touch? I didn’t pick up ‘cos I didn’t know the number, then I just blocked it. Later, they left a voicemail with my full name (which was a bit creepy) saying who they were, gave a reference number and a contact phone, but it was all an automated voice, not a real person. They claimed to be with a debt assistance service linked to a bank (apparently the only one of its kind worldwide). Thing is, I haven’t had any letters or anything about this reference, or what it’s supposed to be about. I keep an eye on my credit score every month and I don’t owe anyone a penny. Sure, my credit rating could be higher, but at least I’m free of debt, and that’s a huge relief.
