Has anyone else answered one of these dodgy calls? I keep hearing about people ending up with random charges on their phone bills afterwards. My mum got one today from an American lady pretending to be from BT, saying £600 had been withdrawn from her bank. Such a stress!

My partner answered a phone call from this number and, just like others have said, they claimed £600 had been taken from our bank. He was quick enough to hang up straight away though. Later, I looked up the number and as we thought, it was definitely a scam. There really are some awful people out there.

Like others have said, I kinda panicked and hit 1 after a quick moment, but I ended up hanging up right away without even hearing anyone on the other end. Does pressing 1 actually do anything? What’s the deal if you do end up speaking to one of those operators on these calls?
