I tried calling back using 1471 and it showed a different number, 01709444101. Definitely looks like a scam to me. Since 0800 numbers are usually freephone numbers given out by BT, it’s best to get them to verify it. I wouldn’t pick up if I were you.

It was quite weird, the caller ID said it was from an 0800 number, but when I dialled 1471 to find out who it was, it actually showed 01709444101 instead. Never seen that happen before, really puzzling.

Nah, they're just folks hired by British Gas. Their aim is to coax you into sharing details about your current energy bills so they can switch your account over to British Gas. This outfit isn't British Gas itself, just a third party doing their bidding. British Gas really ought to put a stop to this because it's making them look bad.

This number keeps ringing me non-stop. I put it on my phone’s block list, yet I still get voicemails with nothing on them. I even tried texting them to tell them to quit calling, but my carrier replied saying the message couldn’t be sent.

Just like lots of others here, I've been getting daily calls from this number. They always leave silent voicemails, which is really odd. If it's supposed to be British Gas, I don’t even use their service. I've tried blocking the number from calling me, but somehow they still manage to slip through and leave these empty voicemails. Honestly, I just want the calls to stop. They're so irritating and a total nuisance 😠
