I tried calling back using 1471 and it showed a different number, 01709444101. Definitely looks like a scam to me. Since 0800 numbers are usually freephone numbers given out by BT, it’s best to get them to verify it. I wouldn’t pick up if I were you.

It was quite weird, the caller ID said it was from an 0800 number, but when I dialled 1471 to find out who it was, it actually showed 01709444101 instead. Never seen that happen before, really puzzling.

Following on from my recommendation last week about contacting BG to register my complaint, they actually got back to me, took my details off their system, and since then, I've not received a single call. A definite win, I must say!

Oh, it's simply chaps toiling away for British Gas, you know? They're out there trying to fish for details about your current utility provider's bills, aiming to lure you over to British Gas. These folks aren't actually British Gas; they're just underlings acting on their behalf. Honestly, British Gas ought to rein them in, as they're tarnishing BG's reputation rather badly.
