Had a call from someone claiming they’d chatted with me three years back regarding my mortgage. Quite the stretch of the imagination, considering we haven’t had a mortgage for two decades! When I highlighted this fact, she proceeded to inquire whether I’d considered re-mortgaging. I pointed out that wasn’t the case at all - it felt like she was conjuring up fake conversations just to reel me in for business. I decided to hang up at that point. She did reference Halifax or possibly another building society, but honestly, this approach seems incredibly shoddy for trying to attract new clients.
