Received calls out of the blue, but when I pick up, there's absolute silence!

It was a call from a call centre. The lady on the other end had quite a thick foreign accent and I struggled to catch what she was saying. At first she was quite friendly, asking how I was, but once I questioned why she was ringing, her tone suddenly got quite aggressive. I ended the call but she kept trying to talk over me.

They seemed to think they were chatting with my other half. As soon as I heard “Life Insurance policy renewal,” I said I was glad they rang as my partner passed away in August. They just ended the call straight away.

I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now. Thinking maybe I should drop a line to my MP and see if they can bring up the problem of these cold calls and scams in Parliament?

I hung up before they could respond, though I now regret not extending the conversation.
