Had a call from what sounded like some scam outfit, maybe pretending to be BT or HMRC, but the person on the line spoke in such a thick foreign accent with terrible English that neither BT nor HMRC could make sense of it. I muted the call and left them hanging by keeping their line open and preventing them from dialling out, which seemed to annoy them quite a bit. When the call eventually dropped, I made sure to block their number. Absolute scumbags trying to scam people!

Somebody phoned me saying my hub was having issues and it was urgent to sort it out, claiming to be an engineer from BT Openreach. I was working and told them I couldn't hang up what I was doing right then but I'd get in touch with BT myself later if needed. The same person rang me back three times, pushing me to hear them out. In the end, I just hung up on them.

I got three calls on my landline before 1:30 this afternoon, all from someone saying they were ringing from BT. It seemed like the same bloke every time, had a bit of a foreign accent, maybe Asian. Honestly, it really creeped me out.

I kept him going for a bit, acting like I believed the nonsense. Then I told him I work for Openreach myself and that they don’t do calls like that, basically calling it out as a scam. He just hung up right away!

The phone rang on two occasions around half eight in the morning. The number was one I didn't recognise, so I allowed my voicemail to take it. They hung up but then made another attempt. When I answered, all I got was a line filled with static before it cut out completely. Quite perplexing!

Today, I received a phone call from a gentleman who had a thick Asian accent and struggled quite a bit with his English. He then asked if he could remotely access my computer, which I firmly declined. It was clear to me that this individual was definitely not a legitimate BT technician!

this number shows up as an international call when it rings but if you cancel it, it then appears differently like the ones above 2? really odd, feels like some trick to dodge the normal international call detection. ive seen others saying they’ve blocked it. it’s called me twice today! if you pick up, i reckon you might get hit with some kind of reverse charge, probably similar to those scams that charge premium or overseas fees.

Got a call today, Dec 4th 2020 around 4:06pm from 01708 766910. Total rip-off, some bloke with a heavy Asian accent who couldn’t speak English properly. Said he was from BT tech support trying to “upgrade” my router and threatened to cut off my internet in 20 mins if I refused. Well guess what - my internet’s still running fine! I didn’t hold back, gave him a few short words to show my disgust, joked about his parents’ shaky marriage, and told him off in slow, deliberate tones. He hung up before I could even try to hurt his ears with a whistle. What a muppet!

I picked up the landline to a puzzling silence, only to be greeted by a few odd clicks before a foreign voice introduced themselves as "I am (some name) from BT Open Reach." The person then asked, "How are you today?" Naturally, I was caught off guard and replied, "What’s the purpose of your call?" At that moment, the caller hung up without another word. Quite odd, I must say!
