I received yet another pesky call regarding loft insulation. Despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, the caller managed to reach me. I simply placed the phone down on the table, letting the caller ramble on in their attempt to extract details from me, and after a while, they eventually hung up.

I didn’t know the number so I just didn’t pick up. They called twice today already and also rang me yesterday. When they hang up, there’s this message saying ‘please leave a message.’

Seemed like the person on the phone said he was from the Conservative Office. But after reading the comments, it looks like he meant Conservation Office. Either way, not interested right now. Certainly feels a bit 'dodgy' to me.

I’ve had a few calls from this Romford dialling code, including the very number mentioned. I only picked up once, but it turned out to be some insulation scam, so I just hung up. Blocking doesn’t always work since they seem to run multiple numbers with this code, like 473716 and 377522.

They tried to get through BT call minder by making the phone ring. My 89 year old mum picked up. The lady was chatting about loft insulation at an old address. Mum used to live in a house but now she’s in a flat. If I’d been there, I’d have got them to pop round just to waste their time since there’s no loft at her place. These lot are a total timewaste and take advantage of older people just to rip them off. Definite scam. Bet Watchdog has covered this before.

This bloke said he was calling from the conservation office, that someone would visit my place to check it out and then chat with me and my partner about what they found. I knew straight away it was dodgy, so I just let him carry on. He kept fumbling his words, clearly didn’t have a clue what he was going on about. In the end, I told him I wasn’t interested and hung up. Just another annoying nuisance call.

Definitely a total scam pretending to be from some conservation or loft insulation crew. I’ve blocked the number straight away, and honestly, hope these cheeky lot find real work. Actually, I’m not convinced any legit company would hire them. STAY WELL CLEAR OF THESE FRAUDS.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be a conservationist checking loft insulation in my postcode. Pretty clear it was a sales pitch, even tho I’m on the TPS list. She told me my loft insulation wasn’t up to scratch anymore. I just thanked her and she soon ended the call. She managed to get past TalkTalk’s security by giving the name AMBER. I’d already accepted the call, but I’ve since blocked the number.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be a conservation officer, saying her records showed I had loft insulation at my place. I asked which property because I own two. She didn’t specify. She said if it was fibreglass insulation, like what the council installed, it needed replacing because it was no good anymore. I told her I’d already done loads of work on the house, enough for a lifetime, cheers. She said the offer still stood and then hung up. The number I got from 1471 wasn’t local, so I looked it up and found this site. Appreciate the info!

Just got a call from someone saying they were a conservation officer for my area. I asked how they got my number and they mentioned some database. I told them my number is registered with TPS and they said they’d checked but maybe I hadn’t renewed it. I told them once you’re on TPS, you’re always covered.

Nice bloke, said he worked as a conservation officer around here (bit strange as his phone number’s from a totally different region!). Asked way too many personal questions. Definitely not a conservation officer, sounds more like a salesman. Told him he’d rung me before and to buzz off. Being on the TPS clearly doesn’t stop them.

He knew my name, which was a bit odd, and mentioned some records saying insulation had been put in before (which I really doubt). He asked if I could remember what type it was, I said no, then he just hung up.

I got a call from a local number and picked up. The chap was quite polite and asked for the house owner by name, saying he was from a Conservation firm enquiring about the insulation in our home. When I mentioned I believed the grant scheme had ended, he clarified he was ringing on behalf of a private company. Apparently, he was instructed to cold call homes in a specific postcode. The call was friendly and he accepted my refusal without any fuss. Later on, my partner mentioned these types of calls might actually be illegal now. We'll wait and see if they try calling again!

Jan Martin from 01708 050575 rang me just now (09.09.19) claiming to be the Conservation Officer for this area. I decided to listen because I’ve been disputing a planning application next door and assumed the conservation office might be involved, so I thought it was legit. Then she started talking about loft insulation and said a firm called Internaci inspected my place 2 years ago and found it lacking. I couldn’t help but laugh and got quite annoyed - she then accused me of being rude and abruptly ended the call.
