Got a call today on the 8th of Feb 2024. They told me there’d been 2 transactions made from my bank account. One was for amazon, like £680, and the other was £1,350 sent as an international transfer. I tried ending the call but couldn’t get my dial tone back, so had to pull the plug on the phone. These people are absolutely awful.

They claimed to be from the Housing Office and asked about any problems I'd mentioned with the property. I haven’t reported any problems at all. It was an automated voice, definitely not a real person.

A couple of posts down show ways to help put a stop to these scams and why just blockin' might not cut it. Reporting them takes a bit of effort, but it’s no harder than lookin' up info and posting it here. It won’t fix things overnight, but right now the cops don’t really know how bad this problem is, so they can’t send out enough help. Your MP’s reply will probably be, well, “interesting”, but unless everyone who gets these calls and texts complains to their MP and reports every scam, these annoying calls and messages will just keep on coming.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS! Make sure you report every scam try straight to the police fraud system. Just Google ‘action fraud’ and visit ‘police.uk’. Find the ‘report phishing attempt’ section and carefully read all the info, including where to send scam emails. Then fill out the report form at the bottom of that page. Be sure to include all details like any links or web addresses in the text box. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve actually lost money in a fraud. The police can only tackle these scams effectively if we all report them!

Asked if they could take my number off their list, but they just shuffled me to a customer service number where things got worse. Rang back and was basically told to buzz off.
