There’s also extra tips on avoiding scammers. A lot of folks either dont scroll back to read or if they do, they don’t bother taking any action at all. That’s why these scammers keep grinning all the way to the bank, cos they know hardly anyone reports them. Once a scam actually tricks someone, the scammers are quick to switch things up - same scam, just using a different number.

Got a call from an Asian woman saying it was about checking life insurance options. She kept pushing me and I couldn’t really make out what she was actually after. She even knew my maiden name which I don’t use anymore, so that made me suspicious, felt like it wasn’t a genuine company. Then just yesterday, an Asian bloke rang me too. I just block every number they try me on now.

I received a phone call from a woman who implied she was inquiring about our existing life insurance policy. When I informed her that I didn't require any additional coverage as I’ve got everything sorted, she merely stated she was verifying details from last year-smoking habits, health issues, and the like. Eventually, I was handed over to a gentleman who turned out to be a broker, and it became clear he was attempting to peddle new insurance. At that point, my frustration peaked because I had already told the woman that I was only expecting a review of my current policy, not a sales pitch for a new one. He expressed his apologies and claimed that she should have been more transparent about the nature of the call... well, she certainly wasn't!

I received a rather dubious pre-recorded voicemail from this number, alleging that a tax fraud allegation had been lodged under my name. They told me to press 1 to get in touch with my case officer over at HMRC. I’d suggest you go ahead and block this number if you can!
