I picked up and it was this recorded message from HMRC warning about tax fraud, saying if you don’t press 1 you’ll get arrested or whatever. Why don’t they manage to catch these lot? Proper scary message and I can see why some folks end up falling for it.

This number is definitely a scam pretending to be some insurance comparison firm. They call from different numbers too. Clear Compare is a legit company from Canada as far as their site says, and they actually have a notice warning people about these scammers on their website.

Most rude person I’ve ever come across. My 6 year old picked up the phone and handed it to me. The caller asked for my wife, so I said who’s calling? She said she wanted Mrs C, I told her you’ve got Mr C here, who is it? She replied, I don’t care who you are, I want Mrs C. I told her to try a different approach and hung up. Later I dialled 1471 and called the number back, she answered and asked for Mrs C again. Turned out to be some automated dialling machine. She didn’t even know it was me calling back. Honestly, these people are just sleazy. They should stop!
