He inquired whether my wife resided at our address. When she confirmed, he abruptly stated, "You've provided me with the information I required," before promptly ending the call. There was no voicemail on my home phone, so I decided to check this number here and it seems like it was probably a nuisance call. I don't pick up unfamiliar numbers, even if they look like they're from nearby (like this one). I hardly ever use my landline anyway. Anyone I know well has my mobile instead and has been asked to remove my landline from their contact lists. That way, I can be sure that any calls coming through to my landline are definitely unexpected!

Just like everyone else, he asked if I was the owner of the house, then said he was calling from my energy supplier. He assumed I’d already used that government loft insulation deal from a while ago. I ended up reading his own script back to him. When I asked if he rings me daily just for laughs, he quickly hung up.

Got another call from these insulation people, this time they claimed to be from Reading but the number started with 01702? That’s Southend-on-Sea in Essex, definitely not Reading. Total scam if you ask me. The bloke went on about being from the government and some faulty insulation in my loft causing damp problems. Didn’t even bother listening properly, just told him to get lost!
