I got a call from some random number telling me I’d won a holiday, then they connected me to this number saying I had to pay a “deposit” just to book a meeting where they’d give me the holiday voucher. They said it would be a 90 minute meeting all about the holiday... kinda sounds like a timeshare pitch, if you ask me. I reckon it’s the same.

This reminds me of a call I got back in early 2018. The person claimed I’d bagged a holiday and rattled through loads of things I needed to do, but I’d already switched off by then. Proper hard sell! They wanted me to sit through a 90 minute presentation. No chance! It takes me longer just to get my students to finish an exam in that time. I told them just to send the tickets if I’d really won, I’d happily go anywhere warmer than this weather. Not surprisingly, they just hung up.

I've had the same thing happen to me a few times. The first time I actually hung around to hear what they were on about, but after that, I just ignored it. They got my info while I was waiting to get on a flight in Alicante, which actually did happen. They said I was invited to some kind of seminar in Birmingham to find out about a prize I’d supposedly won. Bit suspicious, right? Turns out it was just a way to get me into a timeshare or holiday home pitch. There might’ve been some sort of prize with conditions, but I never bothered going in the end.

I’ve been getting calls from this number every day for the last week. I looked it up here, then picked up today and kindly told them I wasn’t interested in a free holiday, as I’m still enjoying my last one and they should maybe offer it to someone else - I even went along and made it sound like I was doing them a huge favour! :-) That seemed to do the trick. Shame these scam calls can’t be blocked properly, it’s quite unsettling, especially since they’re asking for credit card details.

Got a call from a woman saying my husband had won some contest or something. She wanted me to confirm some info, but it seemed a bit shady so I didn’t go along with it. Told her we’re on the do not call list anyway. She couldn’t properly say which company she was ringing from, which made me more suspicious. When she asked if my husband would be around later, I just wouldn’t answer. She was really insistent and quite annoying about it.

They’ve called me quite a few times lately. I finally picked up today and had a chat. They claimed I completed some kind of survey, maybe I did, maybe not. Then they tried to sell me a deal for three holidays, one was in Turkey. I told them I wasn’t really keen on any of those locations. I mentioned I preferred Barbados or Cyprus instead, and the caller just hung up on me. Total scam in my opinion. So I’ve blocked the number now.

Had exactly the same thing happen earlier, got calls first from Milton Keynes then from Southend on Sea. They kept saying I’d won a holiday competition I had zero memory of ever entering. They even claimed I signed up on 18th July! Told them I was busy and to ring back later. Took a look at my internet history for that day and, surprise surprise, no sign of any competition. Got a call from this CLC World Holiday and Resorts lot claiming I won some prize I never signed up for. First, they rang me from Cheltenham on 01242790372, then handed me over to someone in Southend-on-Sea at 01702 822031 to "get my details." Got a call from someone who already had my full name and where I live, telling me I’d won a holiday. I told them I don’t enter competitions and it was likely one of those deals where the accommodation is “free” but you end up paying loads for the flights, probably more than just booking a holiday normally or a timeshare. I asked them to send me the info and said I’d just turn up at the airport for my “free” trip. Didn’t even wait for a reply, said cheers and hung up. After reading these comments, sounds like one of those timeshare scams for sure.
