So I was hobbling about on my broken foot, finally made it to the phone only for the answer machine to kick in and they hung up straight away! This isn’t the first time they’ve called either. It was about 8.45 pm tonight. I honestly thought the government had put a stop to these annoying cold callers by now.

If this was that Conservative party market research thing, then I'm relieved no one actually spoke to me since I’m definitely not voting Conservative. I was getting loads of calls, sometimes nearly 20 each day, everything from PPI claims to surveys. I’d pick up and they’d just hang up. Then I read about this new BT phone that lets you block calls unless the caller states their name or company and presses the # key. Since I started using it, I haven’t had a single annoying call. The only numbers that get through are the ones I’ve saved in the phone’s contact list. Honestly, I only find out someone’s tried to ring me by checking the call history since the calls don’t actually connect.

If you’re with BT and got their Caller ID included free when you pay your line rental in advance, you can even block ‘No Number’ and ‘Number Withheld’ calls. Just a heads up, make sure your docs have your mobile number saved or their calls might get blocked as well. I really enjoy hitting that reject button when these annoying cold callers keep ringing. I’m sure there are other brands that do similar stuff too, some might cost money but worth it.

It seems that the Conservative party is reaching out on the number 01702440194, yet it feels like they’re a tad strapped for cash to fork out for the call. Plus, you can block those pesky ‘No Number’ and ‘Number withheld’ calls-though do remember to give your doctors your mobile number; otherwise, they might get barred as well. I absolutely relish the ability to hit that read button whenever these bothersome cold callers intrude upon my day. The Tories act like they’re skint when it comes to taking calls. I just got a Call Saint and it’s brilliant. If you’re with BT and have Caller ID (which comes free if you pay your line rental in advance), you can block calls that show up as ‘No Number’ or ‘Number Withheld’. Just be careful to give your mobile number to your doc, otherwise you might block important calls from them as well. I’m loving how I can just hit the block button whenever those annoying cold callers bother me. I’m sure there are other brands out there too, maybe for a bit of cash, but this one’s spot on.

I get these calls pretty much all day long, really irritating. I found out the number is linked to the Tory party down in Southend, Essex, so I’ve messaged my local Tory MP to see if she can do something about it. Hoping it’ll put an end to it soon.

They keep calling nonstop every day then suddenly stop. We’re waiting on results from my husband’s test and some changes in his meds that the specialists want the GP to update us on. Because we’re expecting this important call, we can’t just ignore the ringing. But as soon as they hang up, the first thing we do is call back the last number. I got three calls from this number, each time it just rang once and then stopped. Looks like they want you to ring back so they don’t have to pay for the call themselves. Apparently that means it’s not against the TPS rules, though that scheme seems pretty pointless since they’re the ones who started it off anyway! Someone on this forum mentioned it might be a Tory party survey, but if that’s right, I’d bet their real goal is to try and flog you stuff you don’t need or collect your details to bombard you with loads more marketing calls. You’ll probably end up getting calls from all sorts of places selling holiday deals, solar panels, or even garage doors over the next year.

I got a call asking me to join a survey for the Conservative Party. I said I’m on the TPS list since I have mobility issues, but they said it doesn’t matter - they can call anyone, TPS or not. I was pretty annoyed and the woman went on to say they’ve got special approval from the Queen via Parliament to ring whoever they want. That just sounds like rubbish to me. They definitely won't be getting my vote now!
