Got a call from someone saying they were with Prominence Assurance and they even knew the last 4 numbers of my credit card. When I asked them questions, they just gave some dodgy excuse about sending me info on a payment they said was declined. But I checked, and the payment went through fine a few days ago. Felt like they were trying to trick me into giving out my full card info.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky saying my late mother-in-law hadn’t paid a bill. She unexpectedly passed in April and my father-in-law is still heartbroken. My husband explained that I handle all the bills and money stuff. As soon as I saw the number, I knew it wasn’t really Sky. Both me and my husband are raging - trying to scam an 85-year-old who’s just lost his wife? Proper low. Definitely watch out for these crooks!

I got a call from a polite woman claiming she was with Sky, saying my mum’s bill from last month wasn’t settled. She’s 78 and ended up giving her card details without questioning it. Later, we noticed £80 gone from her account with the name Providence showing up. We’ve contacted the bank already. Definitely a scam!

I've been getting calls from this number on my home phone twice a day, around 1pm and again at 6pm. When I pick up, either the line goes silent or some recorded message pops up saying they couldn’t reach me - bit of a fib if you ask me. Calling back leads to a random automated service mentioning Alliance Nationwide Insurance? Tried to opt out using their cancellation steps but it didn’t stop, if anything, the calls ramped up. Got a call from a bloke saying he was with Sky Insurance. Nice sounding chap with an English accent asked for me by name. I rang back after about ten minutes and he insisted that proved it was legit. He said my payment for the yearly renewal hadn’t gone through and wanted to verify my bank card details, which I wisely refused. When I tried calling the number they left in my email, I was met with a weird automated message saying they’d call me back unless I entered my number, then it would be deleted from their system. After searching online, it’s pretty clear this is a con. The guy sounds convincing though. Surely there’s a way to block this number and track down whoever’s behind it?

Someone called me claiming to be from Sky Insurance, but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t true. They also mentioned they were ringing from Sutton in Surrey, yet the number didn’t have the area code for that place at all - it looked like it was from Southend instead. Definitely fishy.
