10 yearsGot a call earlier from this number, and the guy was all friendly, even called me by my first name and asked to check my address. I told him to buzz off, ended the call, and added his number straight to my iPhone’s block list.11 yearsI keep receiving annoying calls that I never asked for.11 yearsGot a call recently from a number I didn’t recognise, sounded like the same company someone else mentioned here. The guy wanted to double-check some info and said I probably hadn’t heard of their firm. Then he asked if I still lived at the same place. I politely declined to answer anything personal. Next, he tried to find out if I was working or retired. I stuck to my guns saying I don’t share personal stuff, but he said it wasn’t personal. Still, I told him no personal questions from me, said goodbye and ended the call. Half a minute later, my other mobile rang from the same number, so I ignored it. I’m guessing they got my details from my phone provider since they called both my numbers right after each other. Wonder if everyone else here has the same provider, ours is Three. My basic rule: never confirm any info on unsolicited calls. If they claim to be from a legit company, say you’ll call them back but on a different phone. - caller: RJMBRJMB11 yearsI got a call from this number and the person on the other end was really rude! Totally put me off.11 yearsI got a weird call from this number the other day, some bloke saying he was 'Liam' from a firm called RJMB. He was way too familiar, calling me by my first name like we were mates or somethin’. Tried using this smooth-talking sales banter to make me think he was a nice guy or worth listening to. He even rattled off my postcode and asked if I still lived there. I didn’t bite, just asked what he was ringing about, but I knew straight away it was one of those dodgy phone pitches selling ‘investments’ - basically just a posh word for a con. Told him right off I wasn’t interested and to take me off their list. He asked why, but I wasn’t gonna explain. Told him to scrub my details and not bother me again, which he said he would. We ended the chat politely enough. These scammy investment calls come often, so don’t get caught out. If some company you’ve never heard of rings pushing stuff you don’t want, especially with slick sales tricks, just hang up or tell them to stop calling. Seriously, watch out! - Caller: Liam at RJMBLiamRJMB11 yearsGot a call from 01702410072, the guy said his name was Liam, trying to push some investment schemes. I was pretty calm and told him I wasn’t interested, even asked him to take my number off their list. Halfway through, he just cut me off. I called back straight away, got him again, and told him maybe he needs some lessons on how to speak to customers. He said he was about to do something, but I didn’t wait to hear what, called him a rude name and hung up. This number’s from Clacton-on-Sea - anyone know exactly where? I’m tempted to pay them a visit. Caller: 01702410072.LiamClacton - on - Sea11 yearsJust a quick update from my last post - I got a call back from a private number, turns out it was the manager of the call centre. Lovely bloke actually, told me he had sent Liam home and planned to have a word with him first thing Monday. He was very apologetic about what happened, which I appreciated a lot. I also asked him to pass on my apologies to Liam for the bad language I used, which isn’t my normal way of speaking but felt necessary at the time. Gotta say, after speaking with him I’m pretty impressed. Seems like with a manager like that running things, they might be a bit more respectful on future cold calls when folks say no thanks. All settled now, so no need for any trips to Southend-on-Sea after all. The number was 01702 410072 if anyone’s wondering.LiamSouthend - on - SeaCaller11 yearsI attempted to offload some shares in the States, but the chap just wouldn't take a hint. Kept pestering me with questions about why I wasn’t investing. It was rather ungracious of him, really. Quite rude, if I'm honest!States11 yearsGot a call from this number, saying they weren’t trying to sell anything but wanted me to put in like £10k to £20k in some US shares. I told them I wasn’t interested, and then the guy goes, “You don’t wanna make money?” I said it’s just not for me. Then he starts asking why, if it’s cause it’s US shares or something. I told him to hang up and delete my number three times, but he kept talking, so I just ended the call myself. The caller said something about "City", maybe some kind of investment company.US12 yearsGot a call from this number tonight, and to my surprise, they already had my name linked to the phone number they dialled from. I cut the bloke off quickly, told him I understood it’s just his job and all, but I never entertain those calls and wanted my info wiped from their system. Call was dropped. Of course, they won’t do that, so I guess we’re stuck with these pestering companies for a while longer! Now this number’s firmly stuck in my huge ‘Ignore’ list on my phone. Sigh - looks like it’s one of those firms like RMUK or RGUK.12 yearsWho on earth could these folks be? What do they want from me? If I ever uncover the source that’s been passing my phone number to these strangers, I’ll make it my mission to see they face serious consequences regarding their business dealings. The moment a political party steps up and pledges to put an end to these nuisance calls, they can count on my support in the upcoming election.Submit Your Own Report (01702 410072)
