I got a call from someone claiming to be from my bank, saying there’d been some suspicious charges on my account. I hung up straightaway. Later on, I rang my bank directly to find out if the number was legit. Turns out, it wasn’t connected to the bank in any way and seemed like a total scam. The bank staff even tried calling the number back and found it wasn’t even valid. The number had the 01698 code, which is where I live, but I reckon the scammer used a VOIP service to fake the local area code.
