I got a call from some guy named Albert, sounded like he was from the Indian subcontinent, claiming he was from the Telephone Preference Service. somebody rang me askin for my card info to "put a stop" to pesky calls. funny how these scammers nearly always speak with an asian accent, makes you wonder why some folks get suspicious thinking they're bad when all they're doing is trying to rip you off. i told the bloke i handle unwanted calls by just hanging up and not sharing a single bit of info. seriously, how come these dodgy scammers can just roam free among decent folks? i'd reckon it's high time we had a rule like three strikes and then shoo them away for good.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Telephone Preference Management, kept pushing for my debit card info. I wasn’t having any of it, so I just ended the call. Honestly, someone official should really step in and sort these lot out.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be Mark Wilson from the Telephone Preference Service! He asked for my sort code and bank details, saying it was to stop annoying calls. Bit strange he didn’t say he planned to drain my account as well. Watch out for these dodgy scams. He said his number was 0203 011224 but actually phoned me from 01698 253060. 01698253060 has been ringing me quite a bit. I tend to pretend I can’t quite catch what they’re saying and make them say it over and over again. Not gonna lie, it’s getting a bit dull now. Best thing is just not to pick up if it’s a number I don’t know or wasn’t waiting for. It’s a pain having to check the number every time to figure if it’s someone important. Maybe if a number gets reported like 20 times, the phone companies should just block it. This is obviously some kind of nuisance.

Got a call from a very polite Asian bloke who asked how I was doing. Me - Brilliant, thanks, what's this call regarding? Him - Dunno. Me - You dunno? Then why the hell are you ringing me? Him - Bugger off, f yourself, what a c###, etc. Me - Go on, get it off your chest, you'll feel better. Cheers. I felt better after that too - but honestly, these types can be pretty slick and believable if you're in a weak spot.

Got a call from an Asian gentleman claiming he worked for some kind of call blocking company. He started asking for details about my visa debit card. I told him straight away I wasn’t handing over any card info and then just ended the call.

This number rang my 82-year-old neighbour, who doesn’t use the internet, about some sort of Telephone Preference thing. They then started asking her for her credit card details, which made her suspicious and she quickly realised it was a scam. Honestly, I think the authorities should look into this number or shut it down altogether.

Having worked with kids and Royal Marines, I took a deep breath and calmly explained myself without letting him cut in. But he wouldn’t listen and kept trying to pitch his product after I finished. I ended up questioning his manners and, well, his looks too, before hanging up.

Like a few other folks here, I got an unsolicited call that seemed totally dodgy, asking if I was getting annoying calls. I said, "Apart from this one?" He looked confused and repeated the question. I gave the same answer again. Still no clue, he asked once more. I said it again. Then there was a silent pause like his brain kicked in, and he just hung up. I had an experience akin to what many have shared. An unwelcome and quite dubious call came through, probing whether I'd encountered any bothersome calls. I shot back with, "Besides this one?" However, the chap clearly was a bit thick and just kept asking the same thing. I reiterated my point, but he still seemed baffled. After a rather drawn-out silence-presumably while he was trying to get his head around it-he abruptly terminated the call. It’s infuriating, though; BT expects us to fork out to block such calls when someone ought to be held accountable for this nonsense, especially since we’ve got all the proof.

Some bloke with an Asian accent rang up and wanted to talk to a Mrs Wright. That used to be my last name but I got married again ages ago, like 12 years back. My mum has been getting calls from this company claiming she owes £80 for their call blocking service. She already paid them, but they keep ringing up saying she has to pay again because she’s apparently with a different phone provider now. She usually just tells them to leave her alone or hangs up, but they don’t stop and sometimes call repeatedly, so she ends up leaving the phone off the hook. This morning at about 8.10am, a lady with a serious tone called saying she’s being investigated for fraud and that the police would be at her house within the hour to arrest her. She was really shaken up and didn’t know what was happening. Mum’s nearly 80, so it’s all quite distressing for her. I got in touch with the police and they said it’s likely a scam or a hoax call. Does anyone know what can be done about this?

Some bloke from Asia phoned me, going on about call blocking and said if I gave him my debit card details, he’d put me on a service to block all calls for a monthly charge. I was already irritable because of this awful hot weather, so I lost my temper and just shouted something like ‘get lost and do one’. Maybe I was a bit harsh, but I remembered seeing something on BBC Watchdog saying to be rude to these people and hang up. Honestly, if I could have reached through the phone, I reckon I’d have smacked the scammer!

Then he asked me for the first 4 numbers on my debit card. I said no way and told him to tell me the numbers instead, which he couldn’t do. He spoke with an Indian accent. I warned him it was a scam and told him not to bother. At about 10:50am on 22/06/17, I got a call supposedly about the telephone preference service. They began by asking personal info like my name, address and how I pay my phone bill. Got a call from an Asian gentleman pretending to be from some call blocking company. Told him it was a shame I didn’t have anything to block his call and just hung up. That number’s called me quite a few times since, but most of the time I just let it go to voicemail to avoid any hassle.

Got a ring from 01698253060, some bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was Jack. He claimed my call-blocking service was about to run out and offered to sort it for me. I've only ever used the free TPS service for blocking calls, so I told him I wasn't bothered. Funny enough, this irritating call came just after I ordered a new BT phone that can shut out annoying calls like his. Luckily, the new phone's arriving through Amazon tomorrow, so fingers crossed it does the trick!

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, said they needed my postcode, name, address and even direct debit details to 'stop nuisance calls' - total scam, don't give them any info!

Got a call from an Asian guy named Jeff who claimed to be from the "Secure Calls Blocking Department". I told him I wasn’t interested in talking and just hung up straight away.

Got a call from some numpty with a Scottish number, but they couldn’t even be bothered to leave a voicemail or explain why they rang. If they ring back when I’m free, I’m just not gonna pick up.

So, I was thinking about getting a call blocking service and this guy called me up, asking if my debit card was still valid. I said no, it had expired, and then he asked when my new card would expire. I was like, why do you want to know that? He said he wanted to renew the free call blocking I'd been using without knowing for the past 3 years. I told him their service wasn’t great and if I want to pick up or ignore calls, that’s my choice. Then he said he could set me up with a £20 per year plan to improve the service. Then guess what? He just hung up on me! Not good at all.

This number rang me earlier claiming to be from the TPS and said they’d stop all the annoying calls. I wasn’t convinced it was real, so I ended the call straight away. Then, only about three minutes later, they rang again. Obviously, I didn’t pick up the second time.

Got a call last week from this number, showed up as "International," saying I was ALREADY signed up for Call-Blocking. Then today, called again (this time no "International" label) saying they were about to activate Call-Blocking for me. I asked why they were calling if I was supposedly already on it. They didn't like the question and just hung up!! Absolute RIP-OFF!!

Got a call earlier today from someone saying they were from BT offering a call blocking service. They then asked for my bank details, which I wasn’t about to give. Told them it made no sense if they already had my account info. Just a load of time wasters and scammers, no clue about doing a proper honest job.

About a week ago, I got a call that supposedly came from this number, but my phone showed it as "International". They told me they’d already set up Call-Blocking on my phone. When they asked for more info like my postcode, I told them they didn’t actually need that to activate Call-Blocking! Then today, I got another call from what I’m told was the same number - this time my phone didn’t mark it as international. They said they were about to put Call-Blocking in place. So, I reminded them that they already said it was done, and asked how this call even got through their own system. They got all confused and ended the call quick! Definitely a complete scam, watch out!

Got a call from this number yesterday, claiming to be BT saying I wouldn't get any spam calls from today onwards! I asked the woman if she was ringing to get a nuisance call in before the deadline - she went quiet and I just ended the call. Kinda weird how you can find their number just by dialing 1471.

Had a call a moment ago from a Laura speaking with a strong accent, definitely not Scottish. At first, she was quite normal, checking my phone number and postcode. Then she started asking if I pay my phone bill by direct debit and if I had a Visa card that's about to expire soon. I found that a bit suspect and asked why that was needed for a “free” service. Normally if it's a scam, they just cut off there. She didn’t hang up though, but I ended the call myself. Also, they didn’t bother to hide their number, which felt quite odd.

This number's called me about four or five times now, saying they're from the TPS and asking if I still pay BT by direct debit. The bloke's voice sounds Indian or something. I was fooled the first time until he brought up BT, but I’m actually with Sky. Now, whenever they ring and say it’s TPS, I just put the phone down straight away.

My elderly sister got a call from this number, and they asked her for her bank info. She didn’t give anything away, but then they phoned her two more times after that, saying she should look for her bank statements. Really annoying!

Just got a call right as we walked in the door, but it went straight to voicemail as we entered the lounge. Still, these rude Scots from Motherwell couldn’t even bother to leave a message explaining what the call was about!!

Rang my Mother in Law around 7.30 in the evening, asked if we were still getting those annoying nuisance calls, she said yeah, turns out it was one of their numbers. Not surprisingly, they just ended the call quickly.
