Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent trying to scam me. I had a bit of fun with her, pretending I was getting my bank info ready to renew some fake monthly Direct Debit. After a while, she caught on to what I was doing and ended the call. Honestly, if these lot were a bit smarter, they’d be proper scary. Anyway, I’ve blocked the number now. Haha!

I receive multiple phone calls every morning from 7am onwards, about six times, but there is complete silence on the other end. Interestingly, these calls come from various telephone numbers. When I've tried to call back these numbers individually, an Indian-sounding lady gives a message stating that I cannot be connected to Cabot at that moment.

A person claimed they were calling from some home appliance insurance firm, wanting me to extend the warranty on my washing machine. I told them I've never even signed up for that sort of cover and asked to have my details wiped from their system. They just cut me off. I get loads of calls like this, always about washing machine insurance - at least one every week from different numbers. Sometimes they even ring back asking if I want to stop these annoying calls!

The bloke had a proper posh British accent which threw me for a loop at first. But when I asked him what he actually needed and why he was after my info, he just hung up on me. Pretty clear that was an attempt to fish for my personal data.

This number rang me two times on Mon 25/01/21. Luckily, my BT call guardian on my phone blocked both calls without me even realising. I only saw them when I looked at the blocked list. This number has rung me a couple times, but I’ve no clue who it is. I checked some of the reviews here and they really helped me decide. My phone shows the caller’s name and number with caller ID, but this one just came up as “no caller ID” so I didn’t pick up. It was my own landline that got called weirdly too.

I just answered and then immediately put the phone down without saying a word. What I’ve noticed is if you hold on silently after the call connects, they usually don’t start talking. Judging by what others have mentioned, it looks like this is likely some kind of scam.

They said they wanted to look over my life insurance with Legal & General, but I don’t have any life cover with them, so why on earth would they be asking for my bank details for a direct debit? I just gave them a quick, short reply.

It’s a bit risky, I guess, but since I don’t pick up, it feels like they’re just hassling you nonstop. They’ll just ring from a different number when you block one. I’ve ended up putting together a blocklist of numbers my mum’s not to answer. She’s in her 80s and absolutely terrified of answering any unknown callers now. She’s got trouble hearing us as it is, so it’s easy for these scammers to trick her. She’s really vulnerable to getting ripped off.

I didnt pick up and as soon as the answerphone started, whoever called just hung up. Saw some posts mentioning it sounded like an Indian accent. These lot try to freak you out about owing tax, promising a refund. Then they say they accidentally paid you too much and ask for the money back, but really they never sent anything. Sometimes they claim to be from Amazon or the tax office, but it’s a total scam. Be careful out there and dont get caught by this nonsense!

I have encountered a scam for the second time. A lady from another country contacted me, claiming to be inquiring about my washing machine. What astounded me was that she even knew my name.
