I got a call pretty early, about 7:20am, and the person asked if they’d reached me by name. I didn’t confirm and asked why they were ringing so early. They claimed to be from the 'technical team at BT ops' with an urgent issue about my internet. The call had a noticeable South Asian accent, which isn't unusual for BT staff. Since I used to be with BT myself, I threw in a few questions only someone actually working there would know. They couldn’t answer any correctly. When I asked one last thing, the line went dead.

Got a call early morning around 7, but we hung up straight away. Then they rang back later at half past one. Some bloke called 'Steve' claiming to be from 'BT' saying there was an issue with our internet. Total nonsense, obviously just a scam.

The person on the phone said they were from BT and even knew my name. They claimed someone had reported my internet was being hacked and wanted me to ring them back on a certain number. I didn’t go for it and declined the call. Then they just hung up. You could hear loads of people talking loudly behind him, so it was obviously a big call centre. They also said they'd disconnect my internet if I didn’t comply. Felt like a proper scam to me.

Got a call from this number from a woman saying there was an issue with my internet and that engineers were sorting it out. She then told me to ring 0203 2906 877 straight away from my phone. Obviously I didn’t bother. Then she rang back about 20 minutes later asking why I hadn’t called. Definitely smells like a scam to me.

Some lady rang me a few days back from a different number and went on and on about issues with my internet router. I reckon it’s the same person again. Sounds like one of those dodgy internet scams. Watch out!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT about some internet issues. She said she could prove she worked for BT when I asked her for confirmation. I told her to give me her name, which department she was in, her employee ID, and specifics about the problem, saying I'd ring BT myself to check. I also warned that if it was a fake call, BT would take legal action. She just ended the call straight away. Total SCAM!!! Lots of other calls from different numbers doing the same thing with nearly identical lines. WATCH OUT!!!

I got a call from a woman with a strong accent, said she was ringing from BT UPreach. She asked me to check my internet speed by googling it. Neither of us really got what the other was saying. I ended the call after telling her I'd have my son come and sort it out for me.

A woman rang up saying she was from BT, telling me there was an issue with my broadband and that my IP address had been made public. (Obviously, an internet-facing IP address is always public anyway). She then read me a fragment of some registry key and asked me to jot it down: 00C04FD7D062, claiming it proved my computer was sending out security reports. Turns out this is a piece of the ZFSENDTOTARGET registry key, something found on every PC. I called her bluff straight away and she just hung up.

Got a call from a bloke insisting he was from BT saying my internet was hacked. I played along for about ten minutes, acting like I was messing with my computer. Then I said I’d recorded our chat and was going to show the police. He swore at me and hung up right away. Honestly, these scammers are the worst kind of people.
