Got a phone call from someone called Megan Davies asking me to send over magazines and newspapers because apparently, she’s doing a business degree and had been assigned Suffolk as her region. She gave me an address: 148 Sandy Lane, Skelmersdale WN8 8LH. Not completely sure what the angle is, but it definitely felt like a scam to me.

My business mobile, which is public, has been getting calls non-stop, three times yesterday and two more today. You’d think if a company was legit, they’d at least leave a voicemail explaining who they are. But nope, these jokers never do, probably because they’re anything but honest. Like Col Blimp mentioned up top, nearly every call I pick up from 01695 numbers turns out to be the same old spiel - whether it’s Police, Fire, Ambulance charities, kids clubs, hospitals, hospices or some adopted one-legged animal charity. The callers always sound like they think they’re mates, dropping names like Bob, Dave, or Steve - are they seriously just a bunch of Minions messing about? Then it’s the “Thanks so much for your previous support” pity act, over and over. If I’d ever talked to them before, I’m sure I’d remember telling them to buzz off! - from various so-called charity leaflets callers.

Got a phone call again from what I reckon is the scamming hotspot up north west. They were going on about cheap adverts in some book to help out (insert some dodgy, tear-jerking story). Asked for a copy of the contract - got nothing. Wouldn't give me any info like an address, charity registration, postcode, or who's in charge. The bloke kept changing his name between "Bob," "Dave," or "Steve." Definitely not legit.
