Since the number started with a familiar local code, I picked up the call. There was a pre-recorded message saying some money had been taken from my bank through Amazon, and I needed to get in touch with them to sort it out. Clearly a scam, but what’s really concerning is how these crooks are using local area codes to trick people into answering. I can easily see my elderly mum falling for this. Surely something can be done to stop these nasty scammers?
