I reckon it might be worth ringing up our bank or credit card company whenever one of these dodgy calls comes through. If enough people do that, maybe they’ll take it more seriously and help put a stop to these scams. Honestly, all the complaining from us phone users probably doesn’t make much of a difference on its own.

I got a call from a woman with a British accent, recorded message, saying it was Visa Direct. She said £600 had been taken out of my account in the last 15 minutes through Western Union and told me to press 1 if I wanted info on how to stop it. I just hung up straight away. After about five minutes I checked the caller ID by dialing 1471 and that number popped up. Not sure if all these scam calls come from the same place, but this one definitely did.

Over the weekend, I got a couple calls claiming to be from VISA, saying £600 was withdrawn from my account and to hit 1 to talk to someone. I just hung up both times. After that, I looked at my bank details, and there was no sign of any such payment.

I've been receiving relentless calls every single day about some supposed foreign transactions on my credit card. It's clearly a scam.
