Got a call from this bloke who sounded like he had an Indian accent, saying he was from Microsoft. Rang me while I was at school, said my computer was sick with some malware and wanted my bank info to fix it. I told him straight up; A) I'm just a poor kid at school with no bank account to speak of and B) my laptop's actually a Mac and currently at the repair shop. Absolute muppet.

I have received two calls from this number in the past few days. Interestingly, these calls came shortly after I had an exceptionally helpful experience with a Microsoft call centre in New Delhi, after providing my home phone number through their online support platform. Is this merely a coincidence?

Got a call this morning around 10:40 from a bloke with an Indian accent saying my computer was infected with a virus. He wanted me to sign in so he could help fix it. As I wasn’t busy (bit sad, I know), I let him keep talking until I told him I don’t even own a PC at home. He just dropped the call right after that.

This number 01691656694 rang me yesterday morning, so I decided to pick up today. Some bloke with an Indian accent said he was calling from Microsoft and that there was an issue with my computer. I put the phone on loudspeaker so I could keep doing other stuff, but he told me to switch it off! I let him ramble on about my computer problems until he got bored and ended the call. Aren’t nuisance calls meant to be illegal these days? Surely BT know who these scammers are?

Got a call at 7.10 am from this number sayin it was Microsoft. Honestly, do they really reckon we’re daft enough to fall for that? Microsoft wouldn't be ringing me outta nowhere like that. I’ve got elderly parents and family who live far away, so it’s really upsetting and makes you worried when your phone buzzes this early. These scammers need to be put to an end, they’ve called me loads of times on both my mobile and landline. They’re a total pain and something’s gotta be done!

I'm an IT guy and I can tell ya this is a total SCAM! To warn others, I usually mess with them and keep them on the line for ages, this time I lasted 42 minutes (my top is 73 mins!). They keep trying to make it look legit by showing the Windows event log, but since I use Linux, that trick didn’t fly. When they couldn’t find any ‘issues’, the guy told me to visit Microsoft's site and put in my bank info!!!

The call came in on Saturday, 29th October 2016 at 11:20 am to a number that is not listed in the directory. However, they hung up without leaving a message. This action was clearly appropriate considering the previous comments.

Pretty much the same here - a guy with a thick Indian accent said he was from Microsoft. He reckoned there was a problem with a file on my computer that would just keep sitting there. I asked where he got my number from, and he said it was from the UK Telephone Database. When I told him my number isn’t listed there or anywhere else for that matter, he just hung up. A phone call was received today at 08:48 on 28th October 2016. The caller claimed to be from Microsoft but my wife politely declined their offer and the caller abruptly ended the call. It's worth mentioning that a similar type of phone scam occurred last week where a friend fell victim to someone pretending to be from TalkTalk. Unfortunately, he allowed them to take control of his laptop, and they attempted to withdraw money from his bank account. Fortunately, Barclays intervened and stopped the transaction. This serves as a warning to everyone to be cautious and beware of such scams.

The person on the phone claimed to be from Microsoft and mentioned some ‘confidential’ security number linked to my computer. He tried to guide me through some steps remotely. At one point, he started giving me a phone number to note down, but it was ridiculously long, so I just stopped writing it. When I asked him to prove who he was, he just chuckled but kept on pushing. Got a persistent bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft, going on about my computer being infected and telling me to press the Windows key and R. Told him straight up I wasn’t falling for it. He said he’d show me some proof, so just to waste his time and his phone credit, I let him start reciting a string of numbers and letters. Had to cut him off when I ran out of space on my A4 paper! Then I told him my lad’s a proper IT whizz, knows all about security, called him out for lying, and hung up.

They keep ringing my dad, who's 86 and has dementia, and thankfully he doesn't know how to use a computer. The annoying bit is they call him all hours, from dawn right up to bedtime. He finds it really hard to get up and pick up the phone. It's proper harassment and it's just not right!

Got a call today 24-10-16 from someone claiming to be from Microsoft saying there was a problem with my PC. I told him there wasnt any issue. He started going on about how he was gonna block my computer, then just cut me off. Proper rude on the phone. Ive blocked the number now.

This number has called me three times in about four days claiming to be from Microsoft. Every time I've asked why they're calling since I don’t even own a computer, they just hang up straight away. They spoke with Indian accents. It might sound believable if you’re not careful, but it’s definitely a SCAM. Watch out!!!

The caller made a complaint about their Microsoft computer sending error reports and they suspected fraudulent activity. The individual decided to hang up the call.

I received a call from an Indian man who attempted to scam me by pretending to be from Microsoft. He claimed that my computer had a virus and asked me to press the Windows button and the letter "R" key. He wanted to know what appeared on my screen. Understanding his intentions, I was cautious and refused to comply with his request. I warned him that I knew he was a scammer and abruptly ended the call. It is important to be aware of such fraudulent activities and avoid falling victim to them.

They’ve rung me a couple of times in the past two days, I didn’t pick up and they never left a voicemail.

They've been ringing me up quite early in the day, but there's no way I'm picking up, especially after seeing what everyone’s said here!

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming he was from Microsoft. When I told him I wasn’t trying to log in to fix my PC, he quickly changed it to them blocking my computer. Told him to do whatever then just hung up. These morons really think we’re all daft, honestly.

They've rung me for the past three days, and each time I asked where they were calling from - apparently California, USA - which made me wonder why on earth they’d be contacting me here in the UK! I told them Microsoft would never make a direct call like that, so it’s clearly a scam. When I asked who they wanted to speak to, they refused to share any info about me. I warned them I’d report them to both the Police and Microsoft, but they claimed it wasn’t a scam. Then they just ended the call! Honestly, just steer clear.

Someone rang claiming to be from Microsoft about my PC. When I told them I’m fed up with all these scam calls, they just hung up. They keep calling multiple times every hour, even when I’m out, and when I pick up it’s only a beep on the answerphone.

They keep ringing me and I just ask, "What's Microsoft?" I don’t own a PC so they either get all puzzled or just drop the call. Honestly, it’s so tiring!

When I try to ring back the number, it says it's unreachable. They keep phoning us every single day, but we just ignore the calls. It's really frustrating.

Just like that, she told me to switch on my computer, I told her, "Give me your number and I'll ring you back later," and she cut me off right away. This also happened to some older family members, and they nearly fell for it. They were told to send money to sort out the problem. Thankfully we acted quickly and stopped them. p######.

Had a call today 21/10/16 around 12.10pm. The usual nonsense about some virus on my PC. I kept the asian sounding lady on the line for ages, then gave her a right earful before hanging up. Dont reckon I'll hear from them again anytime soon, but if I do, they'll get the exact same treatment.

Got two calls today (21st October): the first was this lady with an Asian accent and her voice sounded all distorted, claiming she was from Microsoft and there was a problem with my computer or something. I’ve heard that story loads of times so I didn’t say a word and just hung up. Then the number called back about 4 hours later - I let it ring and it went to voicemail, so I didn’t pick up. Annoying for sure, but I worry older people round here might fall for it because it sounds quite convincing.

Everyone who matters to me - like family, mates, and work contacts - has my mobile. So when my landline, which isn’t listed anywhere, buzzed today, I just let it go and looked up the number online. Found this site, and judging by what other people said here, I’m definitely staying clear of it!
