I received a call from this number, and the chap on the other end started with, "Hello there, can I chat to - erm - just a moment, I’ve got a name... oh, Mrs. ****." Trouble is, that isn't my name at all! When I pointed this out, he then inquired after someone else who was still not me. It was clear he hadn’t a clue who he was trying to reach. Could this be one of those dodgy scams where merely answering the call or engaging in conversation incurs a charge? It’s the second time I’ve experienced something like this in just a week!
