For more than a year, these people keep ringing, always asking for someone else and immediately hanging up when I ask who they are. I’ve blocked that number plus a couple more that seem linked, but now they’ve switched to calling from ‘private number’. I tried telling them nicely to take us off their list, thinking at first it might be important, and I even made a GDPR request to have our number removed - they just put the phone down on me! I’m baffled why they keep at it, unless they’re just scouting to see when someone’s in!

I totally agree with what others have said here. It’s becoming so annoying having to keep hanging up all the time. I’ve blocked international calls on my phone and I’m registered with the TPS, yet these calls keep dropping through with a UK area code, even though they clearly aren’t from the UK. It’s hard to understand why the authorities can’t do more to stop this. I’m seriously considering getting rid of my landline altogether, or at least muting the ring and only using it to make calls.

Got a call from an Asian guy earlier today. I asked how he found my number and he just said he needed 60 seconds and claimed to be from some benefits department. I ended the call straight away. Definitely a scam!

These guys have been ringing me every single day. Sometimes when they do pick up, the first thing they say is that they’re not trying to sell me anything. But TODAY, it fell completely quiet, so I gave a sharp whistle and some voice snapped back, “SHUT UP!” before the line just cut off. Honestly, it feels pretty threatening and just plain horrible. Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent asking if I was someone I wasn’t (gave him a totally different name). When I asked who he was, he just hung up. These calls come pretty often. I reckon they’re just hoping to guess your name right by luck. I’ve told them to piss off before but now I just hang up straight away. Not really sure what the scam is about, but it’s definitely dodgy. I wouldn’t bother talking to them at all.
