Got a call earlier claiming my PC got hacked by someone in California. The bloke knew my full name and where I live, which was a bit creepy. He kept pushing for payment, so I just ended the call. Fairly persistent guy, sounded Asian.

They claimed to be from Microsoft. Normally, I'd mess around with them for ages so they don't target someone who might actually get caught out, but today I just wasn't in the mood to waste 20 minutes. I've now reported and blocked the number using BT Call Protect.

Got a call from an Asian bloke who claimed to be calling from BT. He told me they'd be shutting off my phone line for a couple of weeks due to some hacking issues online. Strangely, he already had my name and address. Then he just ended the call.

Got a call from an Asian bloke claiming to be from BT. He said our phone line was going to be disconnected for a couple of weeks due to some hacking issues online. Creepy part was, he seemed to already know my name and where I live. Then he just ended the call.

this bloke called claiming he was from microsoft security or something, saying my computer was hacked and sending them info. he told me to press ctrl and the windows key together, then hit the start button and type "event" in the search bar. by then i got suspicious and just dropped the call, letting him ramble away. after a while, he gave up and hung up. the same number phoned again like 5 mins later but i just ignored it. watch out for these scams!

Despite the recent bust in India you can read about on bbc news, those dodgy call centres just keep ringing non stop. I've had to block the number myself using BT Call Protect as a last resort.

I got a call at work from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, but I just hung up straight away. Our office computers have strong firewalls and are well protected, so I didn’t bother engaging. Best not to pick up these calls at all.

I used BT call protect to block them, but they just keep calling anyway. Why won’t they just stop?

I got a call from someone saying my wifi was being used to download dodgy stuff. They wanted me to check on my computer so they could prove it. They could spot my exact location alright but when I asked stuff about my router and ISP, they couldn’t give any proper answers. Felt a bit off to me.
