The phone was answered but there was an awkward pause before a message started. Initially, I heard a voice saying, “Thank you for your patience,” and just as I was bracing myself for what was next, a different voice chimed in saying, “Thanks for calling, how may I assist you today?” Then, out of nowhere, the line went dead. It definitely has all the hallmarks of a scam!
