Lately, I’ve been flooded with calls and messages from this number, plus another one named Freestuff - I’ve blocked them both now. A couple of texts from Freestuff were actually for ‘Christopher’ (that’s not me), and I once answered a call for ‘Mr Johnson’ (also not me). I’m guessing someone like Christopher Johnson has a number close to mine, and might have made a mistake entering his number with some scam firm, likely one that deals in selling personal info. Sounds like he’s a bit careless if you ask me.

They said they were from Scottish Power and wanted to speak with her. I told them she lives here but doesn’t handle the bills. They then asked if this number had ever belonged to her, to which I replied no, and I asked how they got my number in the first place. Their response was that they’d take me off their mailing list. They even wished me a Happy New Year, calling me by my daughter’s name. Every time I answered, there was this awkward pause before they spoke again which felt a bit off. Does this sound like a scam? I set it up since I was getting over 10 random calls a day and it was driving me mad. Now I feel a lot better answering the phone, knowing it’s probably someone I actually want to speak to! I’d definitely suggest others give DU Caller a try - you can customise exceptions and tweak the settings to fit exactly what you want. Worth a shot!
