I've been receiving these pesky automated calls purporting to be from BT, asserting that my broadband has been hacked. They instruct me to press 1 if I’m with BT or 2 if I use another provider. It's quite maddening, as I've endured at least four of these calls just in the past week, frequently at the crack of dawn. I’ve scrutinised the phone numbers twice, only to discover they’re all completely distinct. To add to the confusion, we've had cable for yonks, and our BT line was disconnected a decade ago, so it’s abundantly clear this is nothing but a scam!
