Got a call from someone saying there was a fault with my internet connection. They asked for the number on the back of my router. The caller kept following their script, but even after I asked a bunch of times, they couldn’t prove they were actually from BT Openreach. Got a call from this number earlier, just like others have said. I pretended to believe them for a bit, then told them straight up they were scammers and should find real work. After that, I ended the call. Even though I’m unlisted, these dodgy calls still manage to come through.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from BT saying there was an issue with my internet. When I asked what was wrong, they didn’t really give me a proper answer. I ended up saying I’m sick of these scams and just hung up. To be honest, I probably could’ve kept them on the line a bit longer. Plus, I’m actually with Virgin Media, so I know for sure BT isnt the provider for my broadband anyway.

This morning I got a call claiming to be from BT Open Reach. They said they’d been told my broadband speed wasn’t up to scratch and asked me to test my download speed. The person sounded like they were from a call centre and even put me on hold at one point, but I just ended up hanging up. Actually, I had one of these calls just yesterday too.

Received a call from BT who claimed they needed to chat with the account holder. When I inquired about the name of the person responsible for the bill, she told me she couldn’t disclose that info. I then mentioned that, in that case, I couldn’t continue the conversation. This was the second call I’d had this morning; the initial one provided a made-up name for the account holder.

I spoke with a woman who honestly sounded like she was based in India. She was rather pushy about me connecting my laptop to assess my internet speed. I mentioned that I could easily check it on my tablet instead. However, she was adamant that I needed to power on my laptop. I stood my ground, checked the speeds on my tablet, relayed the information to her, and politely said I was occupied. In the end, I just hung up.

I've recently signed up with BT for my internet, and I thought a call I received was legitimate at first. It came from abroad and the caller mentioned something about checking my internet speed, which has been a bit sluggish lately. I went along with it and they transferred me to a supervisor. I got a call from someone claiming to be from BT, giving his name as Matthew but with a strong Indian accent. He said BT had noticed my broadband speed was quite poor and told me to run a test on [#]fast[###] from my desktop or laptop to check the speed myself. When I did, it showed about 17Mbps. Then he asked me to install some remote access software so they could fix the problem remotely. Seriously, DON’T fall for this! They just want to get into your device and swipe your personal info. When I said my laptop wasn’t working, he just hung up on me. Total scam alert.
