5 yearsToday at lunchtime my elderly dad got a call from this number. The caller claimed to be from Amazon Prime, saying that someone had tried to make a purchase of £76 on his credit card in the early hours of the morning. They asked if it was him. Dad told them to call back around 3pm as he was tied up, and sure enough, they did. So Dad handed the phone over to me. The guy had a distinct Asian accent, and when I asked who was speaking I had to raise my voice over him to tell him I thought it was a scam and to never call again. Then he just hung up. The whole thing shook Dad because the bloke was so insistent about the card being used. Thankfully he didn’t give out any personal info, but I reckon that would’ve been their next move on the follow-up call. The funny thing is, Dad doesn’t even have Amazon Prime!
