Got a call from someone claiming I’d had an accident but it wasn’t my fault. Didn’t bother chatting, just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

They keep ringing but when I pick up there's no one on the other end. It feels kinda creepy, like maybe someone's watching you or something. I told the police about it just to be safe.

Since I switched my number to ex-directory with BT, the number of annoying and scam calls has dropped right down to almost nothing. It makes me wonder if BT might be providing scammers with access to online directories and then offering privacy blocking as a paid extra to customers? Before, I was getting about 5 or 6 scam calls every single day, now it’s zero. If you're fed up with constant nuisance calls or have relatives who are more vulnerable, going fully ex-directory is something to think about - plus, it doesn’t cost a thing.
