Got a call with an automated message warning about some fraud on my Amazon account, telling me to hit 1 or 2 for some choices. Thing is, I don't even have an Amazon account and didn’t get a moment to tell them to bugger off.

I got a call from a lady speaking with an Asian accent, but the connection was dreadful. She sounded like she was reading straight from a script. She kept going on about replacing my router because apparently my PC is running slow - which it’s not! She then asked me to pick from three colours and whether I preferred one antenna or two for speed. At one point she asked to confirm my name, and when I told her she should already have it, she said she’d get her supervisor. Then the line just cut out.

It appears this number is up to no good, as I received a pre-recorded message suggesting that if I required assistance with my tax dodging situation, I should hit 1 for a chat. Is this the latest twist on those pesky PPI calls, perhaps?
