The lady who rang me must have been new at it because she paused for a moment trying to figure which phone company she was supposedly ringing from. She claimed there was a virus on my PC, but when I just said "Alright" in a skeptical way, she probably realised I wasn't an easy mark and ended the call.

Got a ring from this number earlier. Some bloke with an Asian accent who said his name was Alex. He kicked off by asking if I'd been bothered by any spam calls lately. I told him yeah, actually, I had - courtesy of him! He said he was just trying to help and that it didn’t qualify as a nuisance call. When I told him I wasn’t up for whatever he was offering, he raised his voice at me before slamming the phone down.

I’m a PC tech and have dealt with this stuff loads. They call pretending to fix your computer but really want to install spyware like keyloggers. They’ll try to trick you into opening a port so they can sneak in remotely. Honestly, just put the phone down straight away - don’t give them the chance!

Got a call from Machynlleth in Wales, with a weird number like ??2222?22222227?22?2n0 - total nonsense! Didn’t say a word, just dead silence when I picked up. Definitely sounded like another dodgy scam attempt. Wouldn’t bother replying to that one!

Earlier today, I received a call from an unknown number. However, there was quite a substantial delay between when I answered and when someone finally spoke. The person on the other end had an Indian accent, but their voice was barely audible. When I mentioned this, they asked me, "Can you hear me, ma'am?" Being well-aware of the latest scams going around, I responded cautiously and said, "I can hear you, albeit unclearly." To my surprise, the caller abruptly ended the call. It's been circulating that answering "yes" during such calls can be problematic as scammers may utilize the recorded response as a fraudulent agreement to make payments. But after reading through other comments about this specific number, it seems like they hung up simply because I was being difficult!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from BT, supposedly to address issues with my computer. They insisted that my device was generating errors and offered to guide me through the process of rectifying it. Their first instruction was to enter 'Eventvwr' in the run dialogue box. My advice? Steer clear of this! If you're feeling brave, you could play along, but if you don’t feel up to the task, simply hang up. I ended up wasting a good twenty minutes with this chap, and he didn't exactly take it well when I questioned his tactics-let’s just say, his language was rather colourful! Not my idea of a pleasant chat.

There have been reports of Indians alleging to be from BT, claiming that your computer is causing errors and offering to assist you in fixing them. However, it is important to be cautious and not fall for these scams. They may ask you to enter "Eventvwr" into your computer's run box, which you should not do under any circumstances. If you feel confident, you can choose to engage with them and waste their time. But if you're unsure or uncomfortable, it's best to simply hang up the call. I recently experienced this situation myself and wasted around 20 minutes of the individual's time. Needless to say, I wasn't pleased with the encounter as the person even resorted to swearing at me.
